Dr. Stetler

When it comes to skin care, Dallas dermatologist Dr. Lori Stetler is often asked about her personal skin regimen and her youthful glow, so we asked her to share her go-to skincare products, as well as her favorite skincare procedures. (Stay tuned for the second post).

What do dermatologists use on their faces?

Dr. Stetler’s Daily Skin Care Routine: “Keep in mind I am a sensitive skin type,” she says.

In the morning:

  • NEOCUTIS® Sensitive Skin Cleanser
  • SkinMedica® C & E Complex (face)
  • Clarisonic Opal Eye Infusion serum (eyes and lips)
  • EltaMD® Clear SPF 46 sunscreen

Dr. Stetler shares some of her favorite morning skincare products in this 2020 video:

In the evening:

  • EltaMD Foaming Cleanser or Revision Skincare® Papaya Enzyme cleanser (great for removing makeup)
  • Glycolix eye (eyes)
  • SkinMedica TNS Essential Serum (face)
  • SkinMedica HA5 moisturizer (face)

“Once or twice a week, I use the SkinMedica AHA/BHA cleanser for light exfoliation. I don’t use Retin-A because my skin is just too sensitive, but I would if I could.”

Update: Dr. Stetler reveals some of her favorite evening skincare products for 2020:

What skincare products actually work?

Dr. Stetler shares that one of the perks, or perhaps hazards, of being a dermatologist is she gets asked to try lots of new products all of the time. The benefit is she gets to try them first hand and see what new products she wants to recommend for her patients. The hazard is she gets to experience the rashes and breakouts from some of them so her patients don’t have to. 😉

Her personal goal, and her goal for her patients, is to keep current with the best anti-aging treatments currently available on the market with science to back them up. “I also want to customize a treatment plan for each individual patient. Each person has a unique skin type and may have a skin condition that requires me to mix prescription medications with their anti-aging regimen.”

Dr. Stetler says after four years of additional training focused only on skin care, plus medical school and over 20 years in practice,  she feels qualified to do just that.
