How Much Does Dermal Filler & Lip Filler Cost?

In Dallas, fillers for the cheeks, chin, jawline, lips, etc. can cost from several hundred to several thousand dollars. However, the answer to the question of the cost of fillers isn’t straightforward, as several factors influence the price of dermal filler treatments.

Factors Affecting Filler Costs

Filler injections are very popular cosmetic treatments. They can enhance facial features or combat signs of aging—all without surgery. If you’re new to fillers, you probably want to know how much they cost and how often you need treatments to maintain your results. While we can’t give you a precise price quote for your specific filler treatment, we can explain the factors that affect what you’ll pay for lip filler or dermal fillers for other parts of the face.

Type of Filler

Even though dermal fillers are all gels that add volume, many of them use different active ingredients and come in different formulations that make them more appropriate for different areas of the face. For example, JUVÉDERM® and JUVÉDERM VOLUMA XC both have the same active ingredient, hyaluronic acid, which helps skin stay hydrated and firm. But JUVÉDERM was developed specifically to alleviate the lines and wrinkles of the lower face, while JUVÉDERM VOLUMA XC’s thicker, more durable formula makes it more appropriate for adding volume to the cheeks.

Other fillers have different active ingredients that affect their cost. RADIESSE® is formulated with calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA), which not only adds volume but also stimulates new collagen production for several months after it’s injected. Sculptra® Aesthetic is another collagen stimulator made with poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA). These fillers are typically more expensive than hyaluronic acid fillers, but also produce longer-lasting results.

Treatment Area

If you want to know how much lip filler costs compared to getting fillers to contour the jawline or cheeks, you’ll find that you’ll generally pay less for smaller areas. That’s because you’ll require less filler to accomplish your cosmetic goals. However, very mobile areas like the mouth may require more frequent treatment.

Number of Syringes Used

Dermal fillers are normally sold by the syringe, meaning the more syringes you require, the higher the cost of your treatment will be. Most treatments require at least 2 syringes to achieve a symmetrical look. For instance, you may need one syringe under each eye to restore fullness and remediate dark circles.

Skill and Experience of Your Provider

When calculating the cost of dermal fillers, it’s important to remember that your provider’s time and skill also significantly affect the final price. Typically, more experienced and skilled providers are more expensive than their less experienced counterparts.

However, paying an additional up-front cost for a board-certified dermatologist can save you time and money in the long run. Highly skilled providers cost more because they consistently achieve exceptional results for their patients. Better results mean you won’t have to spend additional money getting corrections for an unsatisfactory procedure.

Geographic Location

Filler costs can vary depending on the practice’s location. Areas with a higher cost of living may have slightly higher prices for these procedures.

How Long Do Fillers Last?

When considering the cost of fillers, you should consider how often you’ll need treatments to maintain your results. As mentioned earlier, biostimulator fillers such as RADIESSE and Sculptra Aesthetic generally last longer than hyaluronic fillers—up to 2 years for some patients. Some HA fillers, though, can last up to 18 months, and the RHA collection of fillers produces results that last 15 months when used to restore volume to dynamic wrinkles and folds.

Certain areas (and certain people) also seem to metabolize fillers quicker than others. Lip filler tends to need refreshing more frequently than filler in other areas of the face, presumably due to the amount of movement and manipulation our lips experience.

Enhancing the Results of Filler Treatments

To maximize your results, follow your practitioner’s instructions closely. Fillers work best when paired with the proper skincare routine for your specific skin type and concerns. A basic routine with the right cleanser, moisturizer, anti-aging treatment products, and sunscreen can go a long way toward keeping your skin looking youthful and radiant.

Your lifestyle can also help extend the life of your fillers. This includes:

  • Eating a healthy diet and avoiding excess sugar consumption
  • Avoiding stress, which is known to accelerate the aging process
  • Getting enough sleep
  • Drinking enough water
  • Wearing daily sunscreen and avoiding prolonged sun exposure
  • Not smoking or using other tobacco products
