Few cosmetic products generate as much excitement as the recently FDA-approved KYBELLA, which reduces a double chin through a series of injections. The Dallas Center for Dermatology and Aesthetics is the first dermatologist office in Dallas to offer KYBELLA, and Dr. Stetler is a national trainer for the company. Dr. Stetler and Dr. Polder, both nationally recognized for their expertise in the use of injectables, are already seeing high demand for KYBELLA treatment, which involves a series of procedures spaced months apart.

KYBELLA is made from a chemical that’s naturally produced in the body to help absorb fats. It is the first and only non-surgical treatment approved by the FDA to reduce fat below the chin. When injected into the fat, known as submental fat, it destroys the fat cells. Clinical trials demonstrated that KYBELLA is safe and effective for contouring the area below the chin. Dr. Stetler and Dr. Polder customize treatments for each patient, who may get 50 injections during a single treatment.
Patient experiences with KYBELLA treatments vary. You may notice enhanced definition of your chin’s profile after 2 to 4 treatment sessions, which are spaced at least a month apart. Up to 6 separate treatments may be performed.
In this ABC News segment, Dr. Kristel Polder performs KYBELLA injections to help her patients eliminate their double chin fat.
Our Team Leaders
Our board-certified dermatologists, Dr. Lori Stetler, Dr. Kristel Polder, and Dr. Jill Feetham, lead a team of experienced and highly trained aesthetic specialists who provide exceptional patient care.
Numerous clinical trials held worldwide included more than 5,000 patients before the FDA approved the treatment for use.
Are there side effects?
The most common side effects are swelling, bruising, numbness, redness, and small firm areas around the injection sites. These are temporary. It’s important to choose a specialist who is trained to inject KYBELLA.
How many treatments are needed?
Dr. Stetler and Dr. Polder create a unique treatment regimen for each patient, depending on the amount of fat below the chin and the patient’s cosmetic goals. Some patients may see optimal results in as little as 2 to 4 treatments. Treatments are spaced at least a month apart and each session includes a series of injections, although the number will vary from patient to patient. Up to 6 treatment sessions are possible.
Does KYBELLA work in other areas besides the chin?
The prescription drug is approved only for treating the area below the chin. It’s not clear if KYBELLA could help destroy fat cells in larger areas, such as the hips or abdomen.
Can KYBELLA be combined with other treatments?
A patient concerned about other skin concerns may want to combine KYBELLA treatments with one or more of the aesthetic services offered at our clinic, such as dermal fillers or skin rejuvenation.
What does KYBELLA cost?
Treatment prices vary based on the patient’s needs and the number of procedures required. You receive a quoted price after consulting with Dr. Stetler or Dr. Polder.
