Top notch dermatology practice. Highly recommend!!”
Most skin redness is caused by either an increased number of blood vessels or blood vessels that are enlarged or dilated. The Cutera Excel V laser creates green light energy that is absorbed by the red color of blood vessels and is converted to heat, sealing off the tiny vessels in the most superficial part of the skin. Like other lasers, the Excel V can be used with a minimal risk of complications, making it an ideal treatment for people of all ages.
The Cutera Excel V laser is a minimally invasive procedure that takes less than an hour to perform. Most patients are immediately able to return to their regular routines with little downtime. The Cutera Excel V offers several different modes if more aggressive treatment is necessary. Several treatments of the same area may be required for maximum fading, and these treatments are generally spaced several weeks apart.

After your laser vein treatment, you may return to your regular daily activities; there is no downtime required. We do recommend avoiding strenuous exercise for the first 24 hours after treatment. Treated areas may be red for the first few hours, but the surface of the skin is not affected by the laser. Treated veins clear away gradually as the body absorbs them. Improvement is typically noticeable about 2 to 6 weeks after treatment; final results take several months to attain. In most cases, multiple treatments are needed for optimal results.
Common Questions
How does the Excel V™ laser treat veins and rosacea?
Excel V is a multimodal laser, meaning it is specifically designed to treat a variety of different vascular lesions including port wine stains and spider veins in addition to rosacea. Excel V works by administering a powerful green laser to abnormal blood vessels. The laser’s energy is absorbed by the blood vessels, which are damaged and eventually seal shut. The blood vessels then gradually disappear. Because vascular lesions are caused by abnormal blood vessels, the Excel V laser is able to treat a variety of these types of concerns.
How is the Excel V laser different from other skin lasers?
Lasers are incredibly versatile tools in the dermatology world, and they come in many forms to treat a wide variety of skin concerns. Laser skin resurfacing treatments such as Fraxel® remove outer layers of damaged skin and stimulate cell renewal for a softer, healthier-looking complexion. IPL, which is similar to a laser, uses concentrated light energy to scatter pigment in your skin, reducing dark spots and other color irregularities. The Excel V laser is different from both of these services because its green light targets only the red discoloration of vascular abnormalities.
How much do vein treatments cost?
It’s difficult to provide an exact figure because every patient is different. At the Dallas Center for Dermatology and Aesthetics, we develop a customized treatment plan for each patient that may include sclerotherapy, a laser treatment, or both. During your consultation, we’ll evaluate your specific concerns and draw up a treatment plan that’s right for you. We’ll also provide you with a precise quote.
What other treatments do you offer to improve the look of my legs?
Whether they opt for sclerotherapy or a laser treatment, most patients are thrilled with the results of their vein treatments. Thanks to a renewed sense of confidence about the appearance of their legs, some patients choose to further enhance results with additional services, such as: CoolSculpting®: This treatment freezes unwanted fat cells, effectively killing them. Over time, the dead fat cells are flushed out of the body naturally. Quick, comfortable CoolSculpting treatments are a great option for reducing stubborn bulges on the inner and outer thighs. Laser hair removal: A series of just a few laser hair removal treatments can leave legs smooth indefinitely — no more stubble, razor irritation, or nicks to cover up, and no more shaving or waxing necessary.
