Sculptra® Aesthetic

Ready for something completely different? Sculptra Aesthetic is a unique injectable dermal collagen stimulator that creates gradual, long-lasting results. It’s a great option for men and women seeking a subtle improvement rather than an immediate change. A Sculptra treatment with a dermatologist at the Dallas Center for Dermatology and Aesthetics typically requires 3 injections over the course of several months. With each injection, results develop further, and your final look can last for more than 2 years; although each patient is unique.

This 30 year old woman wanted to minimize the look of her dark circles and under eye "bags", but she wanted to do it gradually over time.  We injected Sculptra Aesthetic into her eye trough area to add volume thus miminimizing the darkness underneath.  Since Sculptra helps your body build it's own collagen, t... How Does Sculptra Aesthetic Work?

The active ingredient in Sculptra Aesthetic, poly-L-lactic acid, encourages collagen production by providing a support structure for collagen to grow, combatting age-related sagging, wrinkles, and loss of elasticity. The growth of new collagen isn’t an overnight process, and each of our Sculptra patients typically requires a series of 3 injections — but the wait is worth it. Over time, Sculptra restores supple volume to lines, wrinkles, and hollow areas. Eventually, the poly-L-lactic acid is naturally metabolized by the body, leaving behind naturally occurring collagen.

Poly-L-lactic acid is the same ingredient used in dissolvable stitches, so the safety of Sculptra Aesthetic is well established. It is FDA approved and has been used around the world since 1999.

What Does Sculptra Aesthetic Treat?

Sculptra is appropriate for most facial lines, wrinkles, and folds of various depths, but it creates the best results on the following areas:

  • Hollow areas of the cheeks and temples
  • By building collagen, you can also see lifting along the jawline and softening of the nasolabial folds and marionette lines.
  • Chin wrinkles

What Is Sculptra Aesthetic Recovery Like?

There’s minimal downtime following a treatment with Sculptra Aesthetic, but some patients report injection site reactions including redness, tenderness, swelling, or bumps. These are generally mild and short-lived.

Sculptra may be used on its own or along with other dermal fillers at our Dallas, TX practice. During your consultation, our doctors work with you to determine whether Sculptra Aesthetic is the right approach to meet your cosmetic goals.

If you’d like to learn more about any of the dermal fillers we offer, check out our Dermal Fillers FAQ for answers to some of our patients’ most common questions.
