CO2 Laser Skin Resurfacing

It may sound like science fiction, but laser skin resurfacing at the Dallas Center for Dermatology and Aesthetics is actually an effective treatment for common skin conditions — including uneven coloring, wrinkles, scarring, and sun damage. Lasers use thermal energy to gently heat deep layers of the skin and stimulate long-lasting changes. Our doctors offer this procedure to give you younger-looking, clearer skin from the inside out.

Our board-certified dermatologists have many years of experience using laser technology and can accomplish the results you are looking for. We serve men and women from throughout Frisco, Plano, and other Dallas communities. Contact us today by requesting a consultation online or calling (214) 631-7546 to find out more about laser resurfacing and scar removal in Dallas. When you schedule a consultation for cosmetic procedures, you will also receive a customized “Total Skin Rejuvenation” plan to help you achieve your ideal look.

How Does Laser Skin Resurfacing Work?

Lasers have been used for decades to remove or vaporize specific skin lesions. Using UltraPulse CO2 and Fraxel re:pair® (fractional CO2) lasers, it is possible to perform cosmetic skin resurfacing. These advanced laser systems allow for the removal of thin layers of the skin with minimal heat damage and minimal risk of scarring.

Complete skin resurfacing is performed pulse by pulse to soften wrinkles and irregularities. The laser removes thin layers of the skin, smoothing out the skin’s surface. Natural healing mechanisms then stimulate new collagen formation. The new, healthy outer layer of skin produces a younger-looking appearance. Skin tightening also occurs as a result of the effects of the laser on collagen fibers.

“Dr. Feetham was so knowledgeable. She explained everything really well, including care plan, medication side effects, and follow up. Friendly staff, no wait. Beautiful well maintained clinic.”

What Does Laser Skin Resurfacing Treat?

The UltraPulse CO2 and Fraxel re:pair laser systems are designed to remove wrinkles, sun (actinic) damage, and pigment irregularities and to soften predominant expression lines and scars. These lasers may also be used to remove pre-cancerous skin lesions, warts, benign tumors, and some skin cancers. Some devices such as Thermage® or Fraxel® can be used to tighten lax skin on the neck and face.

Full-face resurfacing produces the most dramatic results, but specific areas can also be targeted, such as:

  • Frown furrows
  • Crow’s feet
  • Laugh lines
  • Smoker’s lines
  • Acne scars
  • Fine wrinkles

How Long Does It Take to Recover From Laser Skin Resurfacing?

As with a deep peel, the laser removes protective layers of the skin, creating a wound, similar to a sunburn, which takes approximately 10 to 14 days to heal. Pinkness of the skin may persist for several weeks following surgery. The pink color is covered easily with makeup within several days of treatment. Because laser resurfacing is minimally invasive, patients are able to return to their normal activities usually within 2 weeks with healthy, younger-appearing skin. Keep in mind experiences may vary.

Enhance Your Laser Skin Resurfacing Results

Optimal skin rejuvenation begins with skin that is clean, hydrated, and nourished. We can perform a HydraFacial® treatment before laser skin resurfacing to prime the skin by exfoliating, clearing clogged pores, and infusing nourishing serums.

I have been going to Dr. Stetler for a number of years now and would highly recommend her to all my family and friends. She always cares about your concerns and takes time to listen and help you address them as best as possible.”
